West Tigers Junior Player Charged With Murder Over Underworld Death Of ‘Danny The Serb’ In Balmain

A young player for the Wests Tigers rugby league team has been charged with murder in connection with the death of an underworld figure known as "Danny the Serb" in Balmain. The incident occurred in broad daylight.

An underworld figure known as "Danny the Serb" was found dead in the middle of the day in Balmain, and a junior player for the Wests Tigers rugby league team has been charged with his murder.

In recent years, Masei Tavui has participated in contests such as Harold Matthews and SG Ball. However, it was his dawn arrest on Tuesday in connection with the alleged homicide of Dejan "Danny the Serb" Radulovic that has brought him to the attention of the media.

On Saturday, July 29, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Tavui is reported to have murdered Radulovic on Donnelly Street in Sydney's Inner West as a result of a quarrel over narcotics, according to sources within the police department.

The death of Radulovic, which occurred only a few days after the establishment of Taskforce Magnus in response to an increase in gangland-related homicides, provoked a huge manhunt by the NSW Police, which ended in the search of Masei Tavui's family home in Austral on Tuesday morning.

Tavui, then 19 years old, was taken into custody at the scene, and officers seized clothing that was pertinent to their investigation before transporting him to the Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with one count of murder.

At his bail hearing on Tuesday afternoon, Tavui did not request his release and was legally denied bail.

Radulovic had a record of drug-related offenses, including a 2016 sentence of up to 16 months in prison for providing below indictable levels.

The day Tavui appeared in court, his parents sat in the courtroom to the right of him, wiping away tears with the sleeves of their white t-shirt as they watched their son sob quietly in his hands.

Tavui was taken from the dock and ushered out of the courtroom while his distraught mother wailed.

Both of their son's parents have refused to comment on the murder allegation that has been brought against their son. His father has stated that "we ask for some privacy, as we have a family and children."

On the walkway of Donnelly Street, where Radulovic was found dead, eyewitnesses allegedly observed him getting into a fight with two other guys before the three of them departed the scene in a white Jeep.

Those suspects were said to have a "Maori or Pacific Islander appearance" when they were reported to the police at the time.

Allegedly, Radulovic was left laying on the ground with injuries to his face as well as stab wounds to his chest after the attack.

The identical white Jeep was located a short time later in the nearby area of Five Dock, partially on fire. The fire was able to be quenched, and an alleged firearm was seized from the trunk of the Jeep.

In spite of the fact that it was initially assumed that Radulovic had been killed by a knife wound, a post-mortem examination was performed, and the results of which proved that he had actually been shot.

Lara, Radulovic's sister, paid tribute to a guy she referred to as her "best friend" when the news of her brother's passing was announced.

"Danny, I adore you with all of my heart  I'll be on the first flight back, mom; if there's anything at all you require, let me know. Keeping a watchful eye on us as God has acquired one of his most capable troops. I adore you. She wrote that he had passed away, but he would never be forgotten.

The arrest of Tavui is the second one made in connection with the investigation into Radulovic's death by investigators from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad working under the direction of Strike Force Dears.

The first person to be apprehended was a man aged 30 who was accused with being an accessory after the fact to a murder that had already taken place in September.

He is still being brought before the courts.

Tavui was ordered to remain detained until at least the 12th of December, which is the day on which he is scheduled to appear at Downing Centre Local Court.

Strike Force Dears detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident, according to a statement released by the NSW Police.
