‘Uncalled for’: Brawl Footage Goes Viral As Souths Juniors Conducts Investigations Into Wild Fight
The league is conducting inquiries after video of a heated brawl between Souths Juniors went viral. Check out the clip that has gotten almost a million views online.
Souths Juniors' day of glory was marred by a brutal incident, the repercussions of which are still being felt.
At the conclusion of the reserve grade match between Alexandria and Redfern, chaos ensued, with punches being thrown and many fights breaking out in front of shocked spectators.
Several young ladies got into a violent brawl outside the oval, and the police had to block off Chalmers St. to keep the peace.
Unfortunately, the same intensity was also transferred to the pitch, leading to an event that left onlookers shocked by what they saw.
In the last seconds of their reserve grade match, Alexandria and Redfern got into a nasty brawl that overshadowed the exhilarating game.
Several players, including one from the subs' bench, threw a barrage of punches in an attempt to start or end the fight, but their efforts were fruitless.
Officials decided to end the game and send the film to the judicial branch for evaluation.
Two comeback victories in the senior men's grades spoiled one of the most spectacular grand final days in recent memory.
Luke Curry, CEO of the South Sydney District JRFL, has stated that the incident will be thoroughly investigated before any punishments are issued.
Currently, "there's a process going on and a hearing next week," Curry added.
We experienced two days of top-notch football with 15 games. Except for that, I had a wonderful weekend.
For us, it was like having the air let out of the tires. For us, it was a major letdown.
We have received reports and are currently reviewing the footage. We won't be in a hurry.
Steven Mavin, host of the TV show Bunnies and a former South Sydney Rabbitoh, has claimed that such behavior belongs in the past.
It happened frequently in the past, according to Mavin.
Before the Rovers' late try, the All Blacks were winning comfortably. Their take on the scenario seemed a little shady. There was a previous occurrence that set the stage for the fight, and now you had to think about the following play.
That's exactly what went down. The All Blacks player opted to let his fists fly after the Rovers accepted the tap. There was some payback, and then a couple more participants entered the fray.
To put it mildly, "it was a bit nasty and uncalled for."
Over 570k views and 36k reactions later, the video has become popular on the Bunnies TV TikTok account.
They were running a little late, so we opted to capture some of the A-reserve," Mavin explained.
The video clip was widely shared. It's gotten over half a million views on TikTok and a fair amount on our other channels.
To paraphrase: "Even though it's not nice and the Juniors frown upon it, people will pay the price for their actions."
The NSWRL has taken a strong position against violence, according to a spokeswoman.
"The NSWRL is aware of an incident that occurred at Souths Juniors Grand Final Day at Redfern Oval on Sunday, August 27," they added.
Since Souths Juniors organizes and runs the tournament, they are the ones who must look into what happened and decide whether or not to press charges.
"The NSWRL has a zero-tolerance approach to violent and/or abusive conduct towards players, officials, and spectators," but "it would be inappropriate for any further comment until the investigation is complete."
